Magis is an innovative and experiment-driven affordable luxury brand for the global market. The brand constantly develops and seeks aesthetic, ethical, poetic, and sustainable design.
Magis offers a range of products including home, outdoor, office, and contract furniture. The brand's versatile designs enhance homes, public spaces, and permanent exhibitions.
In this collaboration with Magis, the brand is also seeking new design solutions that fulfill the criteria of a circular economy and sustainable business strategy.
According to research conducted by IKEA, there are three types of lifestyles in contemporary society: Living Single, Living Together, and Multi-generational Living. As an affordable luxury brand, Magis targets domestic products for these audiences. This project aims to propose these new lifestyles to the brand, allowing them to develop sustainable products that align with the principles of the circular economy.
This project proposes the incorporation of the tree as a metaphorical concept throughout the entire design. The design approach focuses on using recyclable and durable materials, rPET and Aluminium, for the basic module, which serves as the core element of the design. This ensures long-term usability, allowing users to continue utilizing the basic module even when their needs change.
Additionally, the design will feature the use of recyclable materials, rPET, while maintaining adaptability to accommodate changes. It will enable users to continuously add new modules, facilitating flexibility and customization.
The ultimate result of the design will bear a resemblance to a tree, symbolizing its capacity to undergo metabolic transformations that align with the evolving lifestyles of the users.
